Step by Step: Character Design Process

The Character design process is an easy one to follow as I have tried and tested it myself one of the key steps is to find and gather photographs of what material the character is made out of what eyes and feet look like etc.

Well done!!! Next we need to look at what kind of character you would like to make, I recommend this book “Writing and Illustrating the Graphic Novel” it really helped me. There are some key points from the book and it would be good i you could do this with every character you make as it makes your character more believable and will help you draw it accurately.

What does your Character Do?

What Interests does your Character have?

Where does your Character live?

What is your Characters secret?

What does your Character want?

Do some sketching like the above find out whether you want it too look menacing and evil or too adorable to resist. I told you Character design wasn’t that hard this is where we revert back to pinterest for example if I wanted to make mine an “Egg Character” I need to know what an Egg looks like instead of guessing which is the sin of the Art world in Character Design always have a reference.

Ready for the Final Draft? Use different types of pencils for this I used a 3B, HB and 3H and then to stop it from disintegrating the paper weird I know, and to reduce smudging Get your hair out!!! And spray over the page. We are at the end now don’t forget to share and follow me on Twitter/Tumblr/Instagram: @ArtyAspie

Can Art CHANGE the WORLD?

2014 - 1(3)

This is a very good question and one I endeavor to answer and I also aim to provide a reason for this and some insight into how it can be accomplished however you apply it in Singing, Performance or Art in General so LISTEN UP.

This is a big question and therefore be broken down into manageable parts.

Firstly ART this can be anything from Singing to painting what I wounder is the actual definition?

“the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”
So basically anything that is appreciated for beauty or emotional power is Art and Yes that includes me and you.

What is CHANGE?

“make or become different”

Change is impacting society around you sharing an idea or a philosophy and have it become contagious to cultures all around the world. Personally change to me is about changing even if it is just one perception of the individuals around me an extending that, I think no matter what it is that you do whatever your expression is it can create this.

The WORLD You might say well this is impossible! Think about the world in this way the World is a body once an infection takes hold and multiplies it becomes stronger and overpowers the body making the defenses and oppositions in the body weak. Ideas are like this whatever it is that you are trying to express to the World whatever message you are desperate to share can create change, if you believe in it strong enough there is no way that it can not influence the world around you. You know why? Because ideas are contagious as the great Sherlock Holmes said himself to paraphrase:

“Once an idea takes hold in there it is too strong to eradicate”

And he is right an idea is something that will be passed from generation to generation I mean look at the idea that Blue is for boys and Pink is for girls and in most of western society we still hold to this principle although we have long forgotten why it is so or what the origin of the idea was in the first place.

So you want to change the World with whatever art it is that you do then don’t just share an idea but let it become infectious let it be a voluntary thing where they believe in the idea so much that that they believe it originated from them and belongs to them.
